Nature is mature without us.
Humans are naturally set to be the ''Khalifah''. The party that brings justice, prosperity, repairment, or even the highest potential for all creatures on our earth. The broken mindset that was applied by colonialism was ''humans able to do exploit to this mother nature'' and these recent years finally scientists said that those are not suitable and have been destroying our earth a lot.
So, to be fair, may we count our contribution to this earth? Did we bring improvement, or did we make this earth get worse because of our actions? Let's say, for example, we produced around 0.7--1 kg of waste per day. Let's make a deal with 1 kg per day. We can count it per month; we produce approximately 30 kg of waste, 360 kg per year, and for 30 years, how much? 3600 kg (10 years) + 3600 + 3600 = 10.800 kg of waste! We were rich, or even crazy rich, rich in producing waste!
We already know one of the sources of the problems is not sorting waste from the household. The mixed waste (organic and inorganic) can make methane, which is around 25--30 times worse than carbon. Then voila, because of those billions of people doing the same, the global boiling is getting more spectacular day by day.
So, to evaluate ourselves, let's sort our waste, and apply the 3R, Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Reduce the waste as much as we can, and for the existing waste we can reuse it, and after all, we have to recycle it. After sorting our garbage, we can bring it to Bank Sampah, the nearest Bank Sampah from our home. Sell it there. Or give our waste to Pemulung. Just take it as a small blessing for them.
Let's start to be aware and responsible for our waste. Because we only have one earth. Because we need this earth, not the opposite. Moreover, why don't we try to be Khalifah step by step? It's better to start small than never!
