"COVID-19 is the greatest test that we have faced together since the formation of the United Nations," said Mr. Gutteres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Countries around the world are working together to fight this pandemic for the world's population. The government has been imposing different kinds of measures to curb the spread of the virus, including Work From Home Policy, Online School, and urging us to stay at home. On Tuesday, the World Bank warned that "significant economic pain" would be unavoidable in all countries. People are losing their job right now and their income have decreased significantly due to the pandemic.
The virus began from a dozen cases to a hundred cases, and right now COVID-19 has hit 208 countries and territories around the world with 1,200,000 positive cases.Â
Several countries have been a great example for other countries in terms of containing the virus and South Korea is one of them. South Korea has proved that containing the virus, while difficult, can be done.
Drive-through
The main part of their measure is to test, test, and test some more. South Korea has been testing asymptomatic people and symptomatic people through their newly invented drive-through centers. Through the invention, they are able to track the cases with more precision.
Tracking App
South Korea is also working together with a central tracking app that publicly informs citizens with an alarm when they get close to the areas that the patient visited before they tested positive for the virus.
Medical Kit
Lastly and the measure that I would do, not finishing with the drive-through test and the tracking app, South Korea is giving symptomatic people that have been tracked and are waiting for the result of the test, a medical kit with 15 face masks and hand sanitizers as they do self-quarantine.
While we are not allowed to go out during the outbreak, getting simple medical stuff might be hard since people are trying to buy as many medical supplies as they can and hoard their supplies as a stock at home. This situation made buying face masks, hand sanitizers, and home supplies a lot harder. Other than that, going to public areas such as supermarket and pharmacy means that we will be meeting a lot of different people that might be exposed to the virus and risking our health itself.
