Understanding Philosophy
The term "philosophy" itself can be seen from two aspects, namely:
a. Semantic Aspects
The word philosophy comes from the Arabic 'philosophy', (nasution, 1779: 9) which comes from the Greek, 'philosophia', which means 'philos' which is love, love (love), and 'sophia' which is knowledge, wisdom / wisdom . So 'philosophia' means love for wisdom or love for truth.
b. Practical Aspects
Judging from the practical sense, philosophy means 'the realm of mind' or 'the realm of thinking'. Philosophy means thinking (Hasyimsyah, 1998: 1). But not all thinking means philosophizing.
Understanding of Science
Knowledge comes from Arabic: 'Alima-ya' lamu-ilman with wazan fa'ila-yaf'ulu, which means: understand, really understand. In English it is called science; from the Latin scientia (knowledge) scire (knowing). Whereas in the Big Indonesian Dictionary science is knowledge of a field which is arranged systematically according to certain methods, which can be used to explain certain symptoms in that field (knowledge).
