Development of Philosophy in the Modern Age

The term "modern" appears not without reason. This word actually has a long and appalling history, emerging as a symbol of antithesis, resistance, rebellion, and rejection of what was past and traditional. Therefore no wonder that modern is always vis a vis traditional.

1. History of the Birth of the Renaissance

The Middle Ages ended at an unclear time because the boundaries of philosophical thought were too subtle, but some scholars argue that the renaissance period was the limit, the dividing line between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age.

In Latin, the Renaissance comes from the words re and nasci meaning rebith, meaning the rebirth of classical culture, namely Greek and Roman culture. This term is commonly used by historians to refer to various periods of intellectual revival, especially those that took place in Europe, and more specifically in Italy, throughout the 15th and 16th centuries.

The term was originally used by the famous historian, Michelet and was developed by J. Burckhardt (1860) for historical concepts that point to periods of indivdualism, the rise of antique culture, the discovery of the world and humans, as periods opposed to the medieval period. The work of philosophy in this century is often called the Renaissance philosophy.

1. History of the Birth of Rationalism

With the advancement of the human mind and the development of ways of inquiry in modern times, humans can answer many questions without fabricating myths. According to A. Comte, in human development, after the mythical stage, humans develop in the philosophical stage, ratios have been formed, but objective methods of thinking have not yet been found.

The ratio has begun to operate but is less objective. In contrast to the theological stage, at this philosophical stage humans try to use their ratios to understand the subject superficially, but objects have not been entered into definitively methodologically.
