Effective Feedback : The Key to Successful English Language Learning

Learning English is an important requirement in the era of globalization. However, students often find it difficult to master speaking skills. One of the factors that can influence the success of English learning is corrective feedback from lecturers.
 
Mini research conducted at STAIN Mandailing Natal shows that students' perceptions of corrective feedback have an important role in the learning process.
 
Positive Perception, High Motivation
 
The results show that the majority of students have a positive perception of corrective feedback. They realize that feedback helps them identify errors and improve accuracy in speaking.

Students who receive clear, specific and constructive feedback tend to be more motivated to learn. They feel valued and supported by the lecturer, so they are more willing to practice and improve their speaking skills.
 
Important Aspects to Consider
 
The study also identified some important aspects that influence students' perceptions of corrective feedback:
 
- Clarity: Easy-to-understand and specific feedback helps students understand their mistakes and how to correct them.
- Construction: Constructive and non-judgmental feedback encourages students to continue learning and improving.

Based on the results of the study, some recommendations can be given to improve the effectiveness of corrective feedback in English language learning:
 
- Lecturers need to give clear, specific, and constructive feedback.
- Lecturers need to use feedback methods that are interactive and in accordance with students' learning styles.
- Lecturers need to create a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.
- Students need to be active in asking for and receiving feedback.
 
Conclusion
 
This study shows that students' perception of corrective feedback is very important in improving the success of English learning.  Effective feedback can improve students' motivation, confidence and speaking ability.
 
By paying attention to the important aspects that have been identified, it is expected that the quality of English learning at STAIN Mandailing Natal can improve and students can better achieve their learning goals.
