Rio Andrew Marvellouis Purba was born on May 14, 1992, in Galang City, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Since he was young, Rio loved art and design. When he went to vocational high school (SMK), he began learning digital graphic design, which became his passion. His love for design grew, and he wanted to learn more. He decided to study at Politeknik LP3I, where he learned about design and business. This education helped him understand how to be a good designer and also how to manage a business.
In 2012, Rio Purba started working as a freelance graphic designer. This means he worked independently, helping companies create logos, branding, and other visual materials. He was very good at making visual identities, which are the things that help businesses stand out. In 2014, Rio became a full-time freelancer. This allowed him to work with clients from both Indonesia and other countries. He helped many companies with their designs and gained a good reputation for being creative and reliable.
One of the most important moments in his career was in 2018 when he took part in the Topcoder Open, an international design competition in Dallas, Texas. Rio competed with designers from around the world and finished in 6th place. This achievement made him known internationally as one of the best graphic designers.
Rio is not just a designer; he is also a YouTuber. On his YouTube channel, he shares tips and lessons about graphic design. He helps many people learn how to design and become freelancers like him. His channel currently has 445k subscribers who watch his videos to improve their design skills. Rio uses his platform to teach and inspire others to follow their dreams in design.
Besides YouTube, Rio has also started his own design businesses. One of them is called YELO Design Studio ID. Through these businesses, Rio helps companies with their design needs, such as creating logos and branding. His businesses are successful and show that he is not only a good designer but also a good entrepreneur.
Rio believes that design is more than just making things look nice. For him, design should solve problems and help people.
