Kenduri, or Genduren, is a term in Javanese culture that refers to a traditional celebration or event in Javanese society. This event is usually done in a religious context. Kenduri or genduren usually involves various activities and rituals, such as reciting prayers, dhikr, reciting holy books, and giving food or meals to the guests who attend. This event is considered a moment to pray, honor ancestors, and ask God for blessings.Â
Genduren Kupat Opor is a tradition that is almost never missed on this holiday after establishing the Eid prayer in congregation at the local mosque. After the prayer, they did not go straight home. They shook hands with each other while saying sorry. The feeling of emotion is felt at this moment. Next, Genduren begins. The food that each brought was eaten together in the courtyard of the mosque. Even though it was only covered with carpets and mats and was plated with banana leaves, there was no gloom on the faces of the residents. From small children to adults, they blend into one. Not infrequently, they exchange food. There is only joy, sincerity, and harmony that can be seen in that moment.
