Did Protestant Despise Women's Supremacy as Reflected in Hollywood Series and Movies, Reign and Mary, Queen of Scots?

During my holiday in June 2022, I had the chance to watch the epic Hollywood series that tells a "dramatic" version of Mary, Queen of Scots' life, yup it is Reign - the series that I have completed for only several weeks.

Despite how melodramatic the love of Mary and Francis story, which probably did not happen in real life since they were married at a very young age, and another little story that has never come in the histories or such, the series is quite entertaining.

I, then continue my historical curiosity by watching Mary, Queen of Scots. A wonderful movie played by two Academic Awards nominees: Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.

As a Protestant, I found myself curious about him, a hate-able pastor that rejects female supremacy. Then, a little survey that I conduct about him, made me even feel unease about his statement, quoting from Wikipedia (which comes from quite reliable source tho):

"Knox furthered his argument by stating that women were created in the image of God "only with respect to creatures, not with respect to man". Knox believed that men were a superior reflection of God and women were an inferior reflection"

"What the heck?" is the thing that comes to my mind reading that passage. In my humble opinion, Christians believe that all of us (women and men) is the image of God (period). There is no such thing as a superior or inferior image, as it is never stated so in the bible.

Christians, as the faith that I hold on to, are the followers of Jesus Christ who are (against all common sense and habits of all ages) never marginalized women. And our bible is a scripture that never pretentiously remove facts or story that are related to women's role, as valuable witness (Gospel of Luke), a game-changer (Book of Esther), and even a leader (Book of Judges).

Therefore, John Knox's statement in The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women is totally unbiblical, in my very own opinion. Further reading has shown me that even John Calvin, has made some different arguments from Knox.

Disclaimer: all my opinion here is merely based on his statement against the women's regime, I had not had the chance to conduct further research about Knox's teaching or anything other than that, nor his role in the reformation of Scotland. However, I also believe that as humans no one is truly true (as we all have fallen into sin) nor anyone is fully wrong (as God has breathed His to us, thus we have similar and unexplainable common sense in each one of us) -- that's why we cannot save ourselves and need a savior to go back to the truth.
