Penglipuran Village, located in Bangli Regency, Bali Province, Indonesia, is a traditional village that has gained fame as a tourist destination due to its preservation of traditional culture and architecture. The village is situated about 5 kilometers north of the town of Bangli and 45 kilometers northeast of Denpasar, surrounded by other traditional villages. It covers an area of 112 hectares with an altitude of 500-600 meters above sea level, characterized by a cool to cold climate with temperatures ranging from 16 to 29 degrees Celsius and an average annual rainfall of 2000 mm.

The village's population, as of 2002, consisted of 832 individuals, with 425 men and 407 women, divided into 197 families. The population has remained relatively stable, with a slight increase to 980 individuals in 2012. The majority of the population is engaged in farming, with a significant number also employed as private workers. Education levels in the village are relatively high, with 426 individuals completing elementary education, 91 completing junior high school, 156 completing high school, and 68 pursuing higher education.

Marriage and family lineage are highly valued in Penglipuran Village. The majority of marriages are between individuals from the same village, which helps maintain the family and clan lineage. This strong sense of community and cultural preservation is a key aspect of the village's identity and a major draw for tourists.

Penglipuran Village is also recognized as one of the cleanest villages in the world, with a unique blend of traditional architecture and natural beauty. The village's bamboo forests, which cover an area of 37.7 hectares, are considered some of the best in Bali and are managed by the community under the concept of Tri Mandala, which emphasizes the balance of relations between God, humans, and their environment.

The village's tourism development is based on a community-based approach, ensuring that the benefits of tourism are shared among all members of the community. This approach has helped maintain the village's cultural integrity and has contributed to its recognition as a model for sustainable tourism
