Unbelieveable fact reported by UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertifications) reveals that humanity loses an area equivalent to the size of egypt in every 12 months. This ongoing degradation affects 40% of the world's land, on which 32 million people depend for their livelihood. (28/11)

AbdulHakim Elwaer,FAO Assistant Director - General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa said "Healthy land, crucial for providing 95 percent of our food, clothing, shelter, jobs, and protection from natural disasters, is degrading at an alarming rate,". 

The Land give us everything that we inquire to live, we have to had sense of urgency to secure it from climate change and poor land management. 60 percent degradation has been fallen on the field of agricultural sector because of unsustainable agricultural practice including but not limited to deforestation where the consequence of it is reducing the root system that hold the soil together, leading to erosion. 

within a rapid growing of people worldwide, this issue is critical to be solved and require an multilateral action on the table as agrifood is irreplaceable sources for people. currently 3.83 billion people are relying on agrifood, therefore amalgamation approaches to managing land, soil, and water sustainably are crucially needed to fertilize growing global population

"COP16 presents a unique opportunity to galvanize global efforts towards sustainable agrifood systems that benefit both people and the planet," Elwaer said.

COP16, set to take place in December 2024, serves as a pivotal platform to address desertification. Bringing together policymakers, experts, the private sector, civil society, and youth, this convention offers an opportunity to foster collaborative solutions that promote sustainability and restore our planet as a thriving and habitable home for all.
