Defenition Of PLOT:
Plot is how a story develops, unfolds, and moves in time. In narrative or creative
writing, plot is a series of events that form a story. The causal events of a plot can
be thought of as a series of events connected by links and so on. The use of plot
also functions as a verb that refers to a character planning the next action in a
story. It's essentially the framework on which the narrative is built, guiding the
reader or audience through the story's progression.
Element Of PLOT:
1. Exposotion
Beginning of a story that reveals important background information, part of a story
when the characters and setting are introduced. This can include setting and
details about characters.
2. Conflict
is a struggle or problem. It occurs in 3 phases: Rising Action, Climax, and Falling
Action. This adds suspense and excitement to a story. It's the tension between
opposing forces that creates drama and keeps the audience engaged. Conflict can
take many forms, such as man vs. man, man vs. nature, man vs. society, man vs.
self, or man vs. supernatural. It's essential for creating depth and complexity in
storytelling, as characters confront obstacles and strive to overcome them, driving
the plot towards resolution.
3. Rising Action
Rising action is the events that increase the tension. These events lead to the
climax. Because of the increased tension as a book's central conflict (or conflicts)
become clear.
4. Climax
The climax can be one or many problems that create the high point of the story.
Usually at the climax, you can foreshadow the story's ending. It's the moment of
peak intensity that often determines the outcome of the story. Another common
usage of the word is to refer to the final twist or concluding scenes in a movie that
provides a closure to the story.
5. Falling Action
Falling action is when the tension decreases and everything begins to settle down,
where the tension decreases, and loose ends start to be tied up. It's where the
consequences of the climax play out and the story moves towards its resolution.
6. Resolution
Resolution is when the conflict has been solved and usually indicates the ending
and a denouement means that all problems within the plot have been solved and
the story can end. It's the moment when the tension built throughout the story is
released, and the characters' fates are determined.
7.Conclusion
The conclusion is the final part of the story and the point at which the reader or
audience gains a full understanding of what has happened and how it affects the
characters and world of the story. A strong conclusion allows for satisfaction for
the reader or audience and leaves a lasting impression.
Types Of Conflict:
1.Characters vs Character
on the conflict between two or more main characters in the story. This is a type of
conflict that involves direct opposition, fighting, or competition between the
characters. This conflict may take the form of physical fighting, competition to
achieve the same goals, or differences in compared values, beliefs, or interests.
Character vs character can create strong tension in the story and be a major driver
in moving the plot forward.
2.Characters vs Nature
Character vs Nature" in the plot refers to the conflict between the main character
and uncontrollable forces of nature or the physical environment. This is a type of
conflict in which characters must face natural disasters, extreme weather, or other
environmental challenges. For example, the main character may have to survive a
raging blizzard, escape an erupting volcano, or navigate a fierce wilderness. These
conflicts place characters in situations where they must find a way to survive or
overcome obstacles posed by natural forces.
3.Characters vs Society
Character vs society" in plot refers to the conflict between the main character and
the norms, values, or social structures in the society in which the story is taking
place. This is a type of conflict in which the main character may relate to the
system, culture, or policies that exist in that society. An example could be a
character's struggle to fight injustice, inequality, or systemic unfairness. This
character may try to change society or challenge norms that are considered unfair
or detrimental. The "character vs society" conflict often creates a social theme in
the story and can open discussions about issues such as human rights, social
differences, or inequality.
4. Character vs Themselves
in the plot refers to the internal conflict experienced by the main character. This is
a type of conflict where characters struggle with inner conflicts, feelings, or
difficult decisions within themselves. Examples of these conflicts include a
character's struggle to overcome fear, confusion, despair, or moral conflict.
Characters may have to face their past, discover their identity, or overcome
personal weaknesses or shortcomings. The "characters vs themselves" conflict is
often an important element in character development and emotional growth in
stories.
